1. Trowel Notch Selection: For tiles up to 20x20 cm, use a 6 mm notch (~4.0 kg/m²). For 30x30 to 60x60 cm ceramics, use an 8 mm notch (~5.0 kg/m²). For large format porcelain slabs (60x120 cm and larger), a 10 mm notch (~6.5 kg/m²) combined with back-buttering is essential to achieve 100% solid bed contact.
2. Waste & Substrate Tolerance: Add 5% to 8% contingency allowance to the calculated theoretical batch requirement to account for rough concrete substrates, floor dips, and on-site handling loss.
